Uninformed Reviews – Videogames: December 2007

Mario Galaxy now available for the Xbox 360!!!The holiday season is upon us and that means the best videogames of the year are ready to play! I haven’t had a chance to play any of these games yet but I’m pretty sure I know what they’re about based on their cover art. So fire up your Playstation 2 and Gamecube consoles because santa clause is coming to town. Videogame town!

Super Mario Galaxy

The Mario Bros. are back and out of this world…literally! Collect mushrooms and warp your way across forty different planets using new power-ups including the hamburger suit and the chair disguise. Watch where you sit, Bowser, that’s no ordinary chair, “It’s a me, Mario!”
Score – 9.13

Assassin’s Creed

From the developers of Jet Moto II and Twisted Metal III comes the ultimate in stealth adventure titles. When the evil Emperor Creed, voiced by former Creed frontman Scott Stapp, captures Princess Judy it’s up to you to get her back the only way you know how – assassinate!
Score – 8.35

Rock Band

The Rolling Stones are in trouble and only you and Slash can save them!

Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare

World War II was a really long time ago. That’s why modern is new again with this ultra-violent first person shooter from Squaresoft. Shoot out eyeballs, cast Nazi magic and choose from thirty-seven different fatalities to win the war and liberate China!
Score – 8.53

The Orange Box

Part Tetris, part Snood, this colorful puzzle game will twist your noodle and force even the smartest gamer to think outside the box – the ORANGE box. Score – 7.28

Ratchet & Clank: Tools of Destruction

The spiritual successor to SEGA’s Toe Jam and Earl – don’t miss this carpentry/platforming masterpiece. The product placement from Sears and Craftsman can be annoying but once you fire up some of these tools of destruction, including the electric measuring tape and the laser hammer, you’ll be ratcheting and clanking your way to future gaming bliss.
Score – 9.52

Halo 3

Third time’s the charm for this once struggling action franchise. Producer Hideo Kojma puts his mark on it by adding an extensive create-a-player and hilarious un-lockable big head mode!
