Julius Bloop is the alias of comedy writer – Kevin Lieber. Currently working fulltime as Network Manager/Producer of VSauce2 – one of YouTube’s most popular and rapidly growing channels – this website also serves as home for personal projects and various weirdo comedy. Uninformed Videogame Reviews is the flagship program of Julius Bloop. UVR is a videogame review parody show featuring Jerry Bloop – a sheltered manchild who gets everything wrong with hilarious results.
Whether it’s overdubbing old commercials or creating short films, there has been a long line of weirdo influences to help Kevin get to this point. Born on Long Island and raised to appreciate the stylings of The Marx Brothers alongside Pee Wee Herman, the importance of laughter and creativity has always been at the forefront of life.
After a pedestrian High School experience including getting cut from every sports team and replacing extra curricular activities with playing guitar and tape recording episodes of The Simpsons, Kevin was named Class Clown and went to college at Fredonia. This involved a heavy dose of cheap beer and being recruited for the local improv/sketch comedy troupe named Random Acts. Director Beki Gibney pressured Kevin to audition for the group and after a successful year of involvement he was named Co-Director.
During this same period, Kevin began a comic strip about a secret agent tampon called Agent Kotex (re-named Agent Kootex for potential legal reasons) for the school newspaper – The Leader. The comic went on to run seventy three times with Kevin becoming Editor of the comic section. – The Lamp[Oo]n. Kevin improved The Lamp[Oo]n not only by bringing color to the comics for the first time but expanding it to include satirical essays. This new section, called The Literary Lamp[Oo]n continues its run several years later. One of his essays brought the ire from local Church groups – apparently they did not like Jesus’ body and blood being compared to Nachos and Mountain Dew.
The summer before Senior Year, Kevin interned at Late Night with Conan O’Brien where he solidified his interest in writing comedy. He also solidified that Conan does not like chopped up vegetables in his tuna.
The final year at Fredonia saw the death of Random Acts involvement and Agent Kootex comics and the birth of Stand Up comedy and Hobo Village comics. Kevin performed his esoteric style of Stand Up at various local establishments in-between creating a new photographic comic strip featuring friends dressed like homeless people. Senior year also led to writing, directing and starring in his Senior Capstone Short Film – The Journey of Merrill. The film, about a reclusive man on a quest for milk, went on to win a gold award at the Aurora Awards in 2006.
In 2006, Kevin started a YouTube Channel as an avenue to periodically share original cartoons. He has since made a career out of making videos and can be seen not only on his personal channel KevinLieber but also VSauce and VSauce2.
He spent two years on and off making a short film called The Garbage Man. The film centers on a hardboiled garbage man receiving a mysterious gift from a pair of neighborhood children.
It was released in the Fall of 2011.
Kevin is currently working full-time for Vsauce while making weird comedy videos in his free time.
